Born on 23rd March 1953 in Przedecz.

In 1972 graduated from the higher general-education secondary school in Kłodawa and in 1974 - from the Horticultural Technical College in Sochaczew.

Owns a farm.

In the 1980s' was active in Solidairty Trade Union clandestine structures. Was interned during the matial law period. In 1989-1990 was member of the Civic Committee assisting Solidarity Trade Union Chairman Lech Wałęsa, and subsequently was chairman of the Solidarity Civic Committee in Konińskie Province. Co-founder and then member of the presidium of the Solidarity Trade Union of Individual Farmers (1981).

Chairman of the National Association of Village Administrators (since 1994), Self-Government Association (since 1994) and Konin Food Bank (since 1996). Honorary chairman of Wielkopolskie Province Association of Village Administrators. Since July 2006 participates in the work of the European Fund for the Development of Polish Villages in Warsaw.

In the First Term Senate was member of the Agriculture Committee, the Local Government Committee and the Emigration Affairs and Poles Abroad Committee. In the First Term Sejm was member of the Commerce and Services Committee and the Local Government Committee. In the Third Term Sejm was member of the Economy Committee and the Local Government and Regional Policy Committee (was member of that committee also in the Fourth Term Sejm).

Was deputy chairman of the "Solidarity" Polish People's Alliance (1989-1992), People's Christian Alliance (1992-1996) and the Conservative People's Alliance (1997-2002).

Member of the Civic Platform Party of Poland.

Married, has two children.
