Born on 1st May 1949 in Święcany.

In 1971 graduated from the Law Faculty of Jegiellonian University. Apprenticed as judge and advocate. Defended anti-communist opposition activists in numerous political trials.

Between 1971and 1973 worked as judge's trainee in the Provincial Court in Rzeszów and between 1973 and 1975 in the Regional Court in Jasło. From 1975 to 1976 served as judge in the District Court in Jasło. From 1977 to 1980 worked as advocate trainee in the Regional Council of Advocates in Rzeszów, then in the Office of Advocates in Krosno (1980-1984) and in Jasło (1984-1990). In 1993 opened a private legal practice in Jasło.

Between 2002 and 2005 was a deputy to the Podkarpackie Provincial Parliament.

In the First Term Sejm served as deputy chairman of the Justice Committee and member of the Spatial, Construction and Housing Policy Committee, Youth, Physical Culture and Sport Committee, and special committee to investigate the consequences of martial law. In the Fifth Term Sejm was deputy chairman of the Environmental Protection, Natural Resources and Forestry Committee and member of the Contacts with Poles Abroad Committee. In the Sixth Term Sejm was deputy chairman of the Environmental Protection, Natural Resources and Forestry Committee and member of the Physical Culture and Sport Committee.

Was a member of the Christian National Alliance from 1992 to 2005. Served as its deputy chairman and then chairman of its main board. Was also chairman of the party's supreme council.

Belonged to the Law and Justice Party and was a member of its political council.

He was married, had two children.

He was elected in a run-off vote conducted on 22nd June 2008. He took the oath on 25th June 2008.
